Jacksonville's Emancipation Celebration Returns to James Weldon Johnson Park in 2023

Councilwoman Ju’Coby Pittman, James Weldon Johnson Park and the City of Jacksonville are excited to announce the third annual  Jacksonville Emancipation Celebration. The festival will take place on Saturday, May 20, 2023 in an effort to educate the community about the historical significance of Florida’s observed Emancipation Day.  Cities like Jacksonville in the State of Florida are acknowledging this special day of freedom.

City of Jacksonville & Icemen Announce Details of Guns n’ Hoses Charity Game

The Jacksonville Icemen, along with Jacksonville Mayor LennyCurry announced today the details regarding the Guns n’ Hoses charity hockey game presented by CSX, H2 Health and Parra Harris Law to be played at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m. Local law enforcement, fire fighters, EMTs and military personnel will participate in a hockey game to raise money for FOP and JFRD supported charities.
 

FDOT to Host Grand Opening and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the Fuller Warren Shared Use Path

FDOT will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand opening of the Fuller Warren Shared Use Path (SUP) on Thursday, April 6 at 11 a.m. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the Riverside Arts Market, 715 Riverside Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. FDOT plans to host media for a tour of the Shared Use Path prior to opening; more details will be announced soon.

Volunteers Needed for the 28th Annual St. Johns River Celebration

Volunteers are needed for the 28th Annual St. Johns River Celebration, Saturday, March 18, from 8 a.m. to noon (times vary according to cleanup site). Participants will help spruce up the city by collecting litter and debris from dozens of pre-selected riverfront and inland sites (sites are listed below). The City and Keep Jacksonville Beautiful are hosting the event in partnership with Florida Inland Navigation District and Surfing’s Evolution & Preservation Foundation as part of the Florida Great American Cleanup, a statewide effort to protect the environment throughout the spring.
