Notice is hereby given that The Fire Watch Council will meet at 6:00 PM, Monday, February 24, 2020 in Lynwood Roberts room on the 1st Floor of the Jacksonville City Hall, 117 West Duval Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202. This meeting will be a public meeting of The Fire Watch Council for the purposes of gathering public feedback from Duval County residents regarding the multi-faceted Fire Watch plan to fight veteran suicide in Northeast Florida.
 

Join Women In Defense First Coast Chapter and the University of North Florida Military and Veterans Resource Center for an exclusive off-the-record chat with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Europe and the EU, Julie Fisher. This event is free, but attendees must register.

Phase I focuses on Naval Air Station Cecil Field, Master Jet Base (1941-1999) as a Naval base and the many conflicts supported. This will honor and recognize the service members who were stationed at the base, Former Prisoners of War and those still Missing in Action. Donation for the event is $10 and includes a Bar-B-Que chicken dinner with a soft drink. Other beverages will be available for purchase. Online purchase is available through January 17, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. Donation for food after the deadline will be accepted at the door.

The next Veterans Council of Duval County meeting will be on Tuesday, December 17th, 2019. The meeting will be held at American Legion Post 137 at 7:00 P.M.

Every year, the Jacksonville National Cemetery holds a ceremony in which wreaths are laid on the tombstones of our local heroes.

The City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department in partnership with the Jacksonville Public Library will be at the Charles Webb Wesconnett Library on the second Tuesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Veterans can come speak with a Veteran Service Officer (VSO) at this local library with no appointment necessary!

Operation New Uniform Graduation is an informal morning where our ONU veterans share their experiences from the program. Our guests, often successfully transitioned veterans and professionals committed to the success of veterans, join our ONU graduates as they discuss the experiences they have had, challenges they have overcome, and what they are doing now.
