Jacksonville’s literary event of the year will return on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019! The Jax Book Fest is back for its third year in a row. The event—held at the Main Library in Downtown Jacksonville—features presentations and signings by authors of both national and local acclaim, book sales, children’s activities and more. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

With a focus on eliminating blight in our neighborhoods the City of Jacksonville offers citizens opportunities and events that encourage appropriate disposal of waste and other debris throughout Jacksonville. One of these many efforts is through the Solid Waste Division, which is hosting a household hazardous waste (HHW) and electronic waste (e-waste) mobile collection event. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao is coming to Jacksonville this week to formally announce the BUILD (Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development) grant recently awarded to the City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). Joined by Mayor Lenny Curry, Secretary Chao will share how these investments are supporting infrastructure improvements and driving innovation.

Beaches Renourishment Project Update news conference

Following months of work to repair damage to local beaches and dunes caused by hurricanes Irma and Matthew, Mayor Lenny Curry will join the mayors of Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach, as well as City Council and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives, to provide an update on restoration and nourishment efforts.
