Mayor Lenny Curry will share in a celebration highlighting the official launch of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department’s newest rescue units. These units provide greater support to citizens and communities throughout various areas of the city.

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao is coming to Jacksonville this week to formally announce the BUILD (Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development) grant recently awarded to the City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). Joined by Mayor Lenny Curry, Secretary Chao will share how these investments are supporting infrastructure improvements and driving innovation.
Following months of work to repair damage to local beaches and dunes caused by hurricanes Irma and Matthew, Mayor Lenny Curry will join the mayors of Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach, as well as City Council and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives, to provide an update on restoration and nourishment efforts.
The City of Jacksonville, in partnership with the Florida Forest Service and The Green Infrastructure Center, is hosting a seminar introducing a grant to study how our urban tree canopy affects stormwater runoff and water quality in our city.
Implosion of the old City Hall annex building, located at 220 E. Bay Street, is scheduled for Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 8 a.m. Beginning at 7 a.m. and up to three hours following the implosion, access in and around downtown areas (Main, Liberty, Adams streets and the St. Johns River) will be restricted to citizens, vehicles and boats as inspections and post clean-up efforts are conducted.
