The City of Jacksonville and the Military Order of the Purple Heart will honor combat-wounded personnel who have served in our nation’s military at the annual Purple Heart Day Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Wall on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Jacksonville University will open its doors to Duval County high school students next week when Mayor Alvin Brown’s second annual Learn2Earn program begins on July 21. The program offers a week of college immersion experience as it encourages students to become the first in their families to graduate from college and aims to boost the number of college-educated residents in Jacksonville.
