Gov. Scott: Jacksonville Area Added Nearly 23,000 New Jobs Over the Year

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that the Jacksonville area added 22,700 new private-sector jobs in the last year. Jacksonville’s unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in May, down 0.6 percentage point from one year ago. Statewide, Florida businesses created 21,900 new jobs in May and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.3 percent, the lowest rate since August 2007. Since December 2010, Florida businesses have created 1,377,100 new private-sector jobs.

Governor Rick Scott announced today that Jacksonville area businesses added 19,000 new private-sector jobs over the year in April. Jacksonville’s unemployment rate was 3.8 percent in April, down 0.6 percentage point from one year ago. Statewide, Florida businesses created 15,000 new jobs in April and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.5 percent, the lowest since November 2007. Since December 2010, Florida businesses have created 1,355,700 new private-sector jobs.

The area’s unemployment rate was 4.1 percent in March, down 0.5 percentage point from one year ago. In the last year, Florida businesses created 233,800 new jobs, bringing the total number of new jobs added since December 2010 to 1,353,000.

The area’s unemployment rate was 4.5 percent in February, down 0.1 percentage point from one year ago. In the last year, Florida businesses created 239,800 new jobs, bringing the total number of new jobs added since December 2010 to 1,346,200.

Florida businesses created 260,600 new private-sector jobs across the state in the last year, bringing the total number of jobs created since December 2010 to 1,343,100.

The area’s unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in December, dropping by 0.1 percentage point in the last year. Florida businesses created 237,300 private-sector jobs across the state during 2016, bringing the total number of jobs created since December 2010 to 1,262,100 jobs.

The area’s unemployment rate was 4.7 percent in November, a decline of 0.1 percentage point in the last year. Florida businesses created 31,600 private-sector jobs across the state during November 2016, bringing the total number of jobs created since December 2010 to 1,266,900 jobs.
