Governor Rick Scott announced today that Jacksonville area businesses created 28,700 new private-sector jobs over the year in September. The area’s unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in September, a decline of 0.4 percentage point in the last year. Florida businesses created 17,900 private-sector jobs across the state during September 2016, bringing the total number of jobs created since December 2010 to 1,222,500 jobs.
Hurricane Hermine

Governor Rick Scott activated Florida’s Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program to support local small businesses impacted by Hurricane Hermine. The bridge loan program, managed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), will provide short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses that experienced physical or economic damage during the storm and recovery efforts. The application period is from today through October 31, 2016.

Governor Rick Scott announced today that the Jacksonville area added 22,200 new private-sector jobs over the year in July. The area’s unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in July, a decline of 0.8 percentage point in the last year.

More than 1,500 new jobs available to citizens

 today announced plans for an 800,000-square-foot fulfillment center in northwest Jacksonville. The company will create more than 1,500 full-time jobs at the site when the facility opens. The news marks the single largest jobs announcement in Jacksonville history.

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced The KLS Martin Group, a global leader in innovative surgical technology, is establishing its first U.S. manufacturing operations in Jacksonville. KLS Martin Manufacturing will create at least 25 new jobs and invest more than $5 million in the local community. The KLS Martin Group currently employs more than 150 Floridians.

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA), a division of Daimler AG, will be relocating an engineering services division from New Jersey to Jacksonville. The company is adding the engineering services division to its Quality Evaluation Center (QEC) in Jacksonville. The 50 jobs will be a mix of employees relocating to Northeast Florida and new hires from the local market. Mercedes-Benz currently employs more than 100 Floridians at the Jacksonville facility.

Governor Rick Scott announced the Jacksonville area added 25,600 new private-sector jobs over the year in January. The area’s unemployment rate declined by 1.0 percent over the year to 4.9 percent in January. Florida has added 1,060,800 private sector jobs since 2010. Governor Scott will celebrate this great news today on his five-city “Million, Billion Jobs Victory Tour.”

Today, Governor Scott announced that FIS, a global leader in financial services technology, is expanding its presence in Jacksonville and will be creating 250 new jobs. The expansion will also generate a capital investment of over $2 million in the local community. FIS currently has nearly 1,100 employees in Duval County and employs more than 4,500 Floridians statewide.
