In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, which is observed on the 31st of August each year, Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department (JFRD) and Drug Free Duval, are offering free, online training on recognizing the signs of an overdose and how to administer NARCAN® Nasal Spray, an FDA approved treatment for an opioid overdose. Participants are eligible to receive free NARCAN® kit following training. A training session will be offered on Monday, 8/30 at 2:00 PM and Wednesday, 9/15 at noon. Registration is required.

The State of Florida, in partnership with the City of Jacksonville, will be shifting the Regeneron Antibody Treatment Site to the Main Library Conference Center, 304 North Main Street via the Main Street Entrance in downtown Jacksonville on Tuesday, August 17.

On Tuesday, the City of Jacksonville announced five COVID-19 testing sites to increase testing capacity across the region. All five sites will be open to the public beginning next week.

The City of Jacksonville announces additional COVID-19 testing sites to address increase testing capacity across the region. The proposed legislation would use $4 million of federal relief funds to combat the local surge of the COVID-19 Delta variant. Agape Family Health and Telescope Health, which have previously managed testing sites for the City of Jacksonville, would operate the three facilities.

With the new school year for Duval County, the City of Jacksonville’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is providing fun, safe spaces for students to go when classes are done. Two free programs, Club Rec (ages 6-12, K-5th grade) and Teen Warehouse (ages 13-18, 6th – 12th grade), are hosted at community centers throughout the city from 2:30 – 6 p.m., Monday – Friday, and offers attendees the opportunity to receive homework assistance and enjoy group activities.
