Gov. Scott: Jacksonville Area Added More Than 18,000 New Jobs Over the Year

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that the Jacksonville area added 18,400 new private-sector jobs in the last year. Jacksonville’s unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in November, down 1.1 percentage points from one year ago. Statewide, Florida businesses created 13,900 new jobs in November and the unemployment rate remained at 3.6 percent, the lowest rate in more than a decade. Since December 2010, Florida businesses have created 1,465,800 new private-sector jobs.

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced that the Jacksonville area added 15,600 new private-sector jobs in the last year. Jacksonville’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.3 percent in October, down 1.4 percentage points from one year ago. Statewide, Florida businesses created 127,400 new jobs in October and the unemployment rate dropped to 3.6 percent, the lowest rate since February 2007. Since December 2010, Florida businesses have created 1,448,300 new private-sector jobs.
Gov. Scott Activates Emergency Bridge Loan Program for Small Businesses Damaged by Hurricane Irma

Today, Governor Rick Scott activated the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program to support small businesses impacted by Hurricane Irma. The bridge loan program, managed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), will provide short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses that experienced physical or economic damage during the storm. The
application
period is from today through Oct. 31, 2017.

Statewide, Florida businesses created 21,900 new jobs in May and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.3 percent, the lowest rate since August 2007. Since December 2010, Florida businesses have created 1,377,100 new private-sector jobs.
