Mayor Alvin Brown announces 2013 Jacksonville Jazz Festival Performers and Activities

Mayor Alvin Brown announced today an exciting lineup of activities for the 2013 Jacksonville Jazz Festival. The annual tradition will be held on Thursday, May 23 to Sunday, May 26.

“The Jazz Festival is a signature event for our city and a reason for each of us to be proud,” said Mayor Alvin Brown. “It’s an opportunity for friends and families to get together and see our Downtown at its best, and my administration is proud to present a lineup of world class entertainment at no cost for general admission.”

Some of this year’s confirmed performers include BWB featuring Rick Braun, Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown, Euge Groove, Gerald Albright, Gregory Porter, Poncho Sanchez, and the Yellowjackets.

Additional performers and festival details will continue to be announced in the coming months through the festival’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/JacksonvilleJazzFestival), Twitter (Twitter.com/JaxJazzFest) and JaxJazzFest.com

This year’s festival will continue the tradition of jazz in Jacksonville with a variety of jazz genres on three stages and featured activities in the heart of downtown Jacksonville.  Special components include Art in the Heart Downtown, an art show and sale, the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition presented by Keyboard Connection Pianos & Organs, Youth Jazz Talent Showcase, jazz brunch, exhibits and displays. The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is free and open to the public unless otherwise listed. VIP seating options are available at www.JaxJazzFest.com.
