Waste Tire Program

Ordinance 260 was created to support the State statute (CH. 403.717, F.S.) and the rules of Florida Department of Environmental Protection as well as to ensure proper disposal of all waste tires within Duval County. This ordinance regulates all tire dealers/generators and transporters operating within the county. Annual costs to the City and taxpapers for the abatement of illegally dumped tires exceeds $250,000.

Jacksonville Municipal Ordinance Code excerpt:

260.103 (C) - Tire dealer means a person engaged in a retail tire selling business, a tire retreading business, or a facility that, in the ordinary course of business,  removes tires from motor vehicles.

260.103 (G) - Generator means a person not defined as a dealer or transporter which generates waste tires in the ordinary course of business.
