The Parks and Recreation Department is proud to be a part of Mayor Alvin Brown's mission to improve quality of life, education and the local economy. The department is comprised of four units:
 
  • The Office of Director provides oversight for the department and includes the Business Office, Community Relations Office, and Planning and Natural Resources Office.  
  • The JaxParks Division oversees activities, programs and facilities related to Jacksonville's park system. It includes preservation lands, recreation programming, waterfront facilities and maintenance.
  • The Ritz Theatre and Museum, supports a vital part of Jacksonville's heritage through museum exhibits and diverse performances as well as specialized youth activities. 
  • The County Extension Office provides trained professionals and volunteers in agriculture, family and consumer sciences and 4-H youth development.
