City Council Offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day.


City Council - Special Limited Meeting

It now appears that the July 2nd meeting will not have a quorum.  The Council and the public are therefore put on notice that the July 2nd meeting will be opened by the Council President with staff, and the Council President, in accordance with the Council Rules and Roberts Rules of Order, will take only such action as is necessary to continue the public hearings and the legislation on the Agenda to July 24, 2012, the Council’s next regularly scheduled meeting.


City Council - Summer Break

In accordance with Ordinance 2005-361-E, the 1st Committee week and City Council meeting of the month of July are suspended for a summer break.  The regularly scheduled Council meeting cycle will resume with Standing Committee meetings on Monday, July 16, 2012.

Notice is hereby given that the Jacksonville City Council will meet on Thursday, June 28, 2012, 4:30 p.m.,  Council Chamber- 117 West Duval Street, 1st Floor City Hall St. James Building, Jacksonville, Florida. The ceremony is held to install the Honorable William H. Bishop, III, AIA, as the 2012-2013 Council President, and the Honorable William I. Gulliford, Jr., as the 2012-2013 Council Vice President. In accordance with Council Rules the positions will become effective July 1, 2012. (Invited attendees will include the Jacksonville City Council Members, Constitutional officers, Judges, Duval Delegation, and Congressional Representatives, appointed Board and Commission members of the City of Jacksonville as well as the public at large.) Invitations are not required to attend this event.

In accordance with the provisions of Section 674.206, Ordinance Code, the Mayor has requested that the Jacksonville City Council convene in a Special Meeting so that Mayor Brown can report to the Council the necessity to invoke a declaration of emergency in connection with the Tropical Storm Debby. Therefore, there is hereby called a Special Meeting of the Council to be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 3:30 p.m., Council Chambers 117 West Duval Street, 1st Floor City Hall St. James Building for the purpose of responding to the Mayor’s request and being briefed on necessity of invoking a declaration of emergency in connection with the tropical storm Debby.
